There is such a large world of different food types to try that often you are left wondering how to sample them all without going broke. I love food and have been fascinated by worldwide cuisine since I was a young child as my family travelled a lot. I love to cook new foods at home now, but I hate the cost of all the ingredients. My blog is all about food from around the world, and how to cook it on a budget. From buying spices online to sourcing cheaper cuts of meat, my blog posts will have you cooking up a storm in your kitchen in no time at all.

2 Ways To Decorate For The Holidays With Coffee Beans

by Brad Sullivan

The purchase of whole coffee beans provides you with fresh flavors each time you grind the beans down and brew a cup, but the coffee beans can serve a number of other purposes as well. If you love the aroma of coffee and the look of a bean, then consider adding coffee beans to your holiday decorating.

The next time you purchase a 2-pound bag of whole-bean Colombian coffee beans, set some of the beans aside and plan one of the following festive creations. Each year, you can use fresh bags of beans to make the decorations over and over again.

1. Coffee Bean Holiday Ornaments

Turn the look of coffee beans into a nice visual for your Christmas tree. The simple craft has a lot of creative options to consider once you get past the simple step-by-step process. Order clear plastic holiday ornament balls. Remove the top of the ornament and fill it with coffee beans. You could fill the ornament right to the top or fill it halfway depending on the look you want.

Once filled, secure the cover back in place. Use paint pens, markers, or other craft decorations to decorate the outside of the ornament. You could add a simple funny message like "Christmas & Coffee" or draw a picture. Picture ideas could include a drawing of a coffee mug or a recreation of the coffee bean itself.

If you do Christmas crafts with other family members, then everyone can make their own coffee bean ornament. See how all the different designs come together and then display them all evenly around the tree.

2. Coffee Bean Christmas Trees

The color and shape of coffee beans can create an elegant holiday decoration you save and display for years to come. Along with a 2-pound bag of whole-bean Colombian coffee, you will need a hot glue gun and a foam cone to create the craft. Starting from the bottom of the cone, add a small dab of hot glue and press the bean in the glue to secure it.

Go around the circumference of the cone one bean at a time and fill up each row. Once you reach the top, try to fit as many beans as you can so none of the cone remains exposed underneath. Once the glue fully dries, you can apply spray paint to the cone or keep the design in natural coffee bean colors. If you purchase different-sized cones, then you could decorate a whole set and put them all on display.
